Annotation description:Immunolabellings of neuromuscular junctions using two different commercial antibodies directed against adenosine A3 receptors were performed. These experiments indicated the presence of A3Rs at NMJ synapses. A3R immunoreactivity did not co-localize with the glial marker S-100, but with the presynaptic membrane marker syntaxin and the muscle membrane marker acetylcholine receptors.

The specificity of the antibodies was assessed by Western blot and pre-incubation of the primary antibody with a control peptide (see material and methods). Further, primary antibody was omitted for IHC to control for unspecific staining by the secondary antibodies.
