- The effect on Ca2+ is not shown directly in these experiments. However, CACNA1E is a known VGCC. The presynaptic action of CACNA1E inhibitor on ca2+-dependent SV release implies that CACNA1E is involved in 'voltage-gated calcium channel activity involved in regulation of presynaptic cytosolic calcium levels (GO:0099626)'.
