Annotation description:Note: Fig.1 shows pre- and postsynaptic localization of Nrxn1; neurexin 1 beta, but uses a pan-neurexin antibody that does not distinguish neurexin paralogs.

Fig.2: "As observed with the pan-neurexin antibodies, also the tagged NRX1β4(+) protein was detected in axons (Fig. 2D) and dendrites (Fig. 2E). At the cell surface, we observed strongest immunoreactivity at the plasma membrane of axons (51 ± 4 and 55 ± 6% of particles in cortex and hippocampal formation, respectively), followed by the plasma membrane of dendrites (11 ± 2 and 17 ± 3%, respectively) (Table 1). At some synapses, prominent labeling was observed in presynaptic or postsynaptic compartments, directly at the active zone and postsynaptic density (Fig. 2E)"
