Annotation description:eIF-4E is involved in cap-dependent initation of translation (Fig. 1). Exaggerated expression of eIF-4E causes alterations in synaptic function, dendritic spine density and synaptic plasticity (Fig. 3).

- eIF-4E KO shown to enhance translation and shown to have enhaced mPFC, striatal and hippocampal LTD. The LTD defects are rescued by application of a translation blocker (4EGI-1). These observations together fully support the selected term.
