| Annotation description: | Using a PKC beta specific antibody and knockout control, it is demonstrated that PKC beta is expressed at the presynaptic terminal of the calyx of held. 10/3/2017 Pim: -Literal: "In slices from wild-type mice, antibody labeling for PKCα and PKCβ overlapped with vGlut1 labeling, consistent with presynaptic localization of these kinases at the calyx of Held synapse." -PCKalpha has C2 domain and is able to interact with lipids membranes. In previous annotations of this expert it was established that only a small fraction of the total PKC pool is membrane attached; the rest resides in the cytoplasm. Therefore, the "cytosol" component of the term is inferred. Because domain information is not reflected in GO, I agreed to this term. |
