Annotation description:Neurexin-1beta without an insert in splice site 4 (SS4-) regulates mEPSC frequency in cultured cortical neurons. Fig. 3 shows that this isoform rescues the decrease in mEPSC frequency that occurs in cultured triple neurexin-1/2/3beta KO neurons.

Fig. 4 shows that the decrease in mEPSC frequency in absence of all beta-neurexins is correlated with an increase in endocannabinoid signaling that originates in the postsynaptic neurons. This indicates that the abovementioned presynaptic neurexin-1beta rescue of excitatory miniature release may involve a regulation of postsynaptic endocannabinoid signaling.
